Description

  • Stems solitary. 0.1-3 m tall. 5-10 cm diam., usually partially covered with persistent leaf bases.
    Leaves pinnate; apical pinna 11-17 x 0.5-2 cm, not wider than the other pinnae.
    Inflorescences erect at anthesis and in fruit; peduncle 15-48 cm long. 5-7 mm diam. , ± terete. sparsely to densely covered with brown lacerate-peltate scales; rachis 14-36 cm long; rachillae 7-16. 20-40 cm long, 1.5 mm diam, at anthesis, erect or spreading, the proximal ones swollen at the base and sterile for up to 5 cm, glabrous or densely covered with reddish brown, flexuous, flattened, wooly hairs; endosperm ruminate; eophyll bifid.
